CUSTOM CARPENTRY IN SALT LAKE VALLEY, UT
Off-the-shelf solutions rarely fit your space the way something built for it does. MK HomePro designs and builds custom wood projects from gates and fences to built-in shelving and storage — pieces that fit your home and last for years.
What We Build
Wood Gates & Fences
Custom cedar or pine gates with proper hardware. Fence panels built to match existing styles or designed from scratch.
Built-In Shelving
Floor-to-ceiling shelving, home office built-ins, and garage storage systems built to fit the wall exactly.
Mudroom & Entry
Bench seats with storage below, coat hooks, and cubbies — custom-fitted to your entry space.
Closet Systems
Walk-in closet builds with hanging, shelving, and drawer sections designed around your wardrobe.
Decorative Trim
Wainscoting, board-and-batten, shiplap accent walls, and crown molding — added character without a full renovation.
Garden Structures
Raised garden beds, arbors, and outdoor storage boxes built from weather-resistant wood.
Materials & Finish Options
We typically work with cedar for outdoor projects (naturally rot-resistant), pine for painted interior work (takes paint cleanly and economically), and oak or maple where a stained finish and durability are priorities. We'll walk you through the tradeoffs for your specific project.
Finish options include paint, stain, natural oil, or polyurethane depending on use and aesthetic. We can match existing woodwork in your home with color samples.
How It Works
We start with a quick consultation to understand the space and what you need. We'll sketch rough dimensions, source materials, then build and install. Most projects are completed in 1–3 visits depending on complexity.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you design as well as build?
We handle the functional design — dimensions, joinery, hardware selection. For architectural drawings or highly detailed custom designs, we collaborate with the homeowner's vision. We're builders, not interior designers, but we know how to make something look right in a space.
What wood species do you typically use?
Cedar for outdoor, pine for painted interior work, and oak or maple for stained finishes. We choose based on budget, durability requirements, and your preferred look.
Can you match existing woodwork in my home?
Usually yes — especially for painted work. For stained pieces we can get very close with the right species and stain selection. We ask for photos and take measurements before committing.
